How much does windscreen repair cost?

A windscreen chip repair costs $89 at any Chippy Repair kiosk — flat rate, same price at all 18 locations across Queensland and New South Wales. Complex chips (star breaks, combination breaks, half-moons) are $119 because they take double the resin, and extra chips fixed in the same visit are $45 each. Crack repairs start at $149 for the first 9 inches, and we can repair cracks up to 24 inches long.

Every repair takes about 15 minutes and carries a lifetime warranty: if a repaired chip ever cracks out, the repair cost is credited toward your replacement. For comparison, a full windscreen replacement in Australia typically costs $1,200 to $2,500 once ADAS camera recalibration is included — repairing keeps your original factory glass and seal. Prefer unlimited cover? Annual Repair Plans start at $139.

How pricing works

What drives the price of a windscreen repair?

The type of chip

A simple bullseye or hairline needs the first 3 drops of resin and costs $89. Star breaks, combination breaks and half-moons spread in several directions at once, so they take twice the resin and cost $119.

The length of the crack

Crack repair is priced by length: $149 covers the first 9 inches and each extra 3 inches adds $30. We can repair cracks up to 24 inches. Longer than that and a replacement is usually the safer call, and we will tell you so.

Where the repair happens

Kiosk repairs have no call-out fee: drive up, no booking needed. Mobile repairs add a $59 call-out on top of standard pricing, and we come to your home, office or fleet yard.

Insurance

Will insurance cover it?

Many comprehensive car insurance policies cover windscreen chip and crack repair, and some insurers waive the excess for repairs because fixing a chip early saves them the cost of a full replacement later. Chippy Repair does not bill insurers directly. Instead, we hand you an itemised tax invoice with photos of the damage and the finished repair on the spot, so you can submit it to your insurer for reimbursement in minutes. Check your policy or ask your insurer whether windscreen repair is covered and whether an excess applies.
